What you’ll do

In the US, 1 in 9 people don’t know where their next meal is coming from. At the same time, Americans throw away approximately 40% of the food they bring home. This organization is dedicated to reducing food waste through education, prevention, and diversion efforts.

In this activity, the organization’s founder will share statistics about food waste and its harmful impact on the environment. Tips and tricks will be shared to help you and your team reduce your own food waste when cooking at home, ordering take-out, and dining out.

This activity will also cover ways to save money while preventing food from ending up in landfills and how to save surplus food from caterers, cafeterias, farms, grocery stores, restaurants, and backyard gardens and get it to people in need. You and your team will leave feeling that your small changes can collectively make a huge difference on our communities and our planet.

Food Insecurity
This interactive experience will introduce your team to practical ways to reduce food waste in their everyday lives. Your participation will empower your team to practice sustainable consumption habits, ensuring that less food goes to waste and that more food-insecure communities gain access to healthy food. Additionally, this event will bolster the organization’s food rescue program to support their goal of halving food waste in Utah by 2030.

This non-profit is committed to making a significant reduction in food waste. They educate consumers and food entities on the issues and solutions while offering a food diversion program that engages the community to help rescue edible food and get it to those who are food insecure.
